A further update on Tuesday’s storage issues: Storage systems affected by the issues earlier this week have now been restored to their original management configuration so no longer need to be considered “at risk”. CEDA services will be available but unsupported over the bank holiday weekend - this also includes Tuesday 29th August. This includes services such as the CEDA archive, JASMIN and helpdesk; so any issues will not be resolved until after the weekend.

Sentinel data weighs in at a ‘horn’-ormous 2PB
The CEDA archive now contains more than 2 Petabytes of Sentinel data comprised of a whopping ~1.6 million individual Sentinel data products. If 2PB’s were represented by weight (when 1gram = 1GB), the archived Sentinel data would ‘weigh’ the equivalent of a Rhino - absolutely ‘horn’-ormous! In contrast, your average smartphone data capacity would weigh the equivalent of a mouse. See infographic below for more details.
